University District grew up on the university’s west edge: two hundred acres planned from scratch, the largest residential project in Canadian history to earn LEED-ND Platinum, and a Main Street that opened with actual shops on it. Flower
Dried flower is the heart of the store, indica, sativa and hybrid, from value big bags to craft eighths out of Alberta and across Canada. There’s a rotating wall of value ounces for the planned buy and small-batch jars for the pickier shop. Ask which jars came in this week, or ask for the best dollar-per-gram on the wall, and your budtender will point you straight at it.
Pre-Rolls
Pre-rolls cover single grab-and-go joints, multi-packs for the week, and infused options built for a stronger pour. The multi-packs are where regulars find their best per-gram value on a roll, and they’re the easiest thing to walk out with when you came in on foot.
Vaporizers
The vape wall runs 510 cartridges, pods and all-in-one disposables across formats and potencies. A 510 cart and battery is the value play once you own the hardware, a disposable is the simplest way in with nothing to charge. Discreet enough for a condo on the Main Street, which is a lot of the housing around here. First pen or fifth, the team will point you at the one that fits how you use it.
Edibles
Gummies, chocolates, baked goods and THC drinks, all sold within Health Canada package limits. Onset runs longer than smoking and lands differently person to person, so the team walks you through serving size and timing before you buy, not after. Low-dose formats are on the shelf if you’d rather start small.
Concentrates
Live resin and rosin, shatter, diamonds and hash, full terpene flavour in a concentrated format, for guests who know what they’re after. Format differences matter more here than anywhere else on the shelf, so the team can match a texture and extraction style to how you like to run it.
Oils, Capsules and Topicals
For measured, smoke-free formats, the store carries oils, softgel capsules and topical creams and balms. Oils and capsules give a precise, repeatable serving, and topicals are a non-inhaled option applied to the skin.
Accessories
Round out the trip with grinders, papers and cones, 510 batteries, glass, lighters and storage. If a cart left you needing a battery or a new ounce needs a proper jar, it’s on the same trip.
Your Cannabis Store in University District, Calgary
Plantlife University District is on the Retail Main Street at 4027 University Avenue NW, in one of Calgary’s newest urban villages on the west edge of the University of Calgary. The district was built to be walked, which makes this a walk-up shop for the blocks immediately around it.
The campus edge is the other half of the map. The Alberta Children’s Hospital sits at the district’s south end, Foothills Medical Centre is a short run southeast, and the University of Calgary is directly across Shaganappi Trail. McMahon Stadium, home of the Stampeders, is a couple of kilometres southeast, and Market Mall is five minutes north in Varsity.
The established northwest fills in the rest. University Heights is next door, with Varsity and Brentwood a few minutes north and Banff Trail, Capitol Hill and Charleswood east across the campus and Crowchild Trail. Crowchild runs southeast toward Kensington, Hillhurst and Parkdale, passing St. Andrews Heights on the way, with Montgomery a short run west. Of the Plantlife stores in the northwest, this is the walk-up one, Dalhousie, up at the LRT station and Northland Village, serves an older catchment that mostly drives. Two different jobs in the same quadrant.
